Breast Lift
in Indianapolis, Indiana
If you have sagging breasts from pregnancy or weight loss, talk to Indianapolis board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Joseph Fata about your options for a breast lift, breast augmentation, or a breast lift/breast augmentation.
After pregnancy or weight loss, the breast shrinks and you will see loss of breast size and breast shape throughout the breast. Breast volume loss is most obvious in the upper breast.
The result of breast volume loss is a loss of the attractive slope and fullness of the upper breast; the nipple drops and may point downward. The combination of loose skin and breast volume loss reduces the support of the remaining breast, which collapses like a deflated balloon.
Breast Lift Technique in Indianapolis, Indiana
During your consultation with Dr. Fata at his Indianapolis, Indiana office, he will take a series of measurements and ask you if you want to increase your breast size as well as improve your breast shape. Your personal goals and your breast exam will allow Dr. Fata to recommend the right breast lift procedure for you.
Breast Augmentation
If your breast sagging is mild and you want to add breast volume, a breast augmentation may be all you need. A breast augmentation provides some lift effect for the nipple and breast, and it restores the fullness of the upper breast.
Breast Lift
If your breast sagging is advanced, you will need a breast lift. Don’t be tempted to choose a breast augmentation without a breast lift because the weight of a breast implant in a breast with stretched-out skin will make a bad situation worse.
Dr. Fata uses the “vertical breast lift” technique, and was one of the first plastic surgeons in Indianapolis, Indiana to offer this procedure.
In the “vertical breast lift”, the nipple is lifted and the remaining breast is reshaped into a more youthful appearance. The only scars are around the nipple and a short vertical scar. Compared to the traditional “anchor” scar design, there is a much shorter scar and a better, longer lasting breast shape.
In a “doughnut breast lift”, the only scar is a circular scar around the nipple. This technique effectively lifts the nipple, but it does not correct loose, sagging breast skin. It is most effective when combined with a breast augmentation.
Combined Breast Lift-Breast Augmentation
If you want to have a breast lift and increase breast size, a breast lift/breast augmentation is ideal. In a breast lift/breast augmentation, standard breast lift techniques are used and a breast implant is placed under the muscle.
If your breast sagging is mild, you may be a candidate for the “doughnut breast lift”. If you have advanced breast sagging, a “vertical breast lift” technique will be used.
