"Prominent Ears" is a term used to describe an often hereditary trait that occurs because of a failure of the ear to fold back during development. Children are often teased with phrases such as "Dumbo ears", and even adults may find themselves lacking confidence because of this trait.

This problem can be easily corrected by a technique known as Otoplasty, or cosmetic ear surgery. In an Otoplasty, the ear cartilage is reshaped into a more natural design closer to the head. In some cases, the "cup" of the ear is reduced in size if it is too large. Improvement can be seen immediately after the dressing is removed a week later and the ears will continue to look better as the swelling subsides. Most Otoplasties are done on children, but motivated adults are also excellent candidates.

The estimated total cost for an Otoplasty surgery is $4,168 which includes the surgeon's fee ($2,250), the surgery center fee, the anesthesiologist's fee ($1,918), and all follow-up care by Dr. Fata. In the case of multiple procedures, a discount may be applied. Otoplasty surgery's exact cost can only be determined after a consultation with Dr. Fata and the $50 consult fee will be deducted from the total.
