A full tummy tuck, also know as a standard tummy tuck, was the first procedure described to treat excess skin, fat, and muscle weakness in the abdominal region.

In a full tummy tuck, a horizontal incision is made along the “bikini line” above the pubic hairline. The length of the incision and subsequent scar depends on the amount of excess n and fat. Dr. Fata will keep the scar as short as possible while still removing all of the excess skin and fat.
The skin is lifted from the muscles underneath all the way up to the rib cage, and the excess skin and fat is removed. The navel is separated and brought out through a new opening in the abdominal skin to maintain its’ proper location. The abdominal wall muscles are tightened in the midline with stitches and the skin is carefully closed.

First, if the loose skin is extensive, you probably need a full tummy tuck. Second, if you have extensive stretch marks, you probably need a full tummy tuck.
Tummy Tuck Recovery-Indianapolis, Indiana
Dr. Fata performs the tummy tuck procedure at the Carmel Ambulatory Surgery Center in Carmel, Indiana near his Indianapolis office. You will need a general anesthesia and an overnight, or 23 hour, stay.
As in other types of tummy tucks, an abdominal compression garment, a medical-grade “girdle”, will be used to help control swelling and protect the muscle repair. This garment can be removed to bathe but you will need to wear it for 6 weeks.
You will need one week off from work and most normal activities. The discomfort typically improves about 48 hours after surgery and most women feel a lot better in one week.
After the first week, you can begin to resume your normal activities. The only restrictions will be no strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for six weeks.
