Liposuction is performed in two steps: First, fluid is injected to control pain, temperature and bruising, a technique known as “Tumescent Liposuction”. Then a hollow, metal tube (a cannula) is passed through a small incision and attached to a vacuum pump to remove the fat.

Liposuction Recovery-Indianapolis, Indiana
A compression garment, a medical grade “girdle”, is worn for four weeks to help skin tightening. The garment can be washed and you can take a shower the second day after surgery.
You will be encouraged to be up walking as soon as possible. The only restrictions in your activities will be no heavy lifting and no strenuous exercise for 2-4 weeks, depending on the extent of the liposuction. The amount of time needed off from work varies from 48 hours to one week, depending on the amount of liposuction.
You will return for follow-up visits with Dr. Fata at his Indianapolis, Indiana office during the first month, and long-term liposuction follow-up will be arranged as well.
