If you are unhappy with the impact of aging on your breasts, you may be considering a breast lift to reduce sagging, and want to know whether you are a candidate for the procedure. In truth, the only way to know whether you are a candidate is to talk to a plastic surgeon, but here are a few things to consider.

First, a breast lift will elevate sagging breasts and can give them a more youthful shape, but it will not make them larger. If you want to increase the size of your breasts or restore volume lost due to pregnancy, weight loss, or age, you should consider breast implants, which can be placed in combination with a breast lift.

You will also need to be in good condition to undergo surgery. This means, among other things, being at or near your ideal weight and either a nonsmoker or willing to quit for about four months around the time of your surgery. Smoking impairs your body's ability to heal and can lead to significant complications after a breast lift.

Finally, you should have realistic expectations about the possible results of your breast lift procedure. To get an idea about the type of results you may be able to achieve, look at our breast lift before and after gallery.
