Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure. This means that some postoperative discomfort is to be expected as your body heals. However, Indianapolis plastic surgeon Dr. Joseph Fata works to reduce postoperative discomfort – and healing time in general – through our 24-hour breast augmentation recovery program.
This unique approach works even before your surgery to help reduce postoperative discomfort. It continues to work through a combination of medications and gentle exercises to speed the recovery process and help ensure optimal comfort following your breast augmentation procedure. It is important to note however that even with this faster recovery process, some strenuous activities will need to be avoided for up to two weeks. During your breast augmentation consultation Dr. Fata can discuss this in greater detail and provide you with a timeline of what to expect during your recovery.
Breast implants themselves should not hurt at all. If you experience discomfort around your implant for a period lasting more than five days, you may be dealing with capsular contracture – an uncommon, but not impossible breast augmentation complication. If you experience sustained discomfort or if pain is accompanied by fever or significant swelling, it is best to call Dr. Fata for an examination. Breast augmentation complications can be dealt with through revision surgery when needed.
