Board Certified Indianapolis Plastic Surgeon Dr. Joseph Fata was pleased with the results of a recent industry study that revealed more people of color now seek out cosmetic surgery and non-surgical aesthetic treatments such as Dermabrasion or BOTOX® Cosmetic than ever before.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, about one-fourth of all plastic surgery patients in the United States are now Black, Asian or Hispanic/Latino. And that represents an increase of a whopping 250 percent in the number of people of color who now undergo plastic surgery and other cosmetic treatments.

People of color constitute about 15 percent of Indiana's population, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. In Indianapolis, the Black, Asian and Latino demographic is closer to 20 percent of the overall population.

Regardless of a patient's ethnic background, most people seek out cosmetic surgery for the same reasons. So nearly all Dr. Fata's patients are looking to:

  • -- Turn back the clock
  • -- Refine their physique
  • -- Improve facial aesthetics
