National Plastic Surgery Stats Further Breast Implant Trends

Now, new plastic surgery statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons indicates that breast augmentation surgery overall is beginning to slide in popularity compared to other body-contouring treatments such as liposuction or tummy tucks.

According to the ASPS, the following five cosmetic plastic surgery procedures were the most popular in 2015:

1. Breast Augmentation
2. Liposuction
3. Rhinoplasty
4. Eyelid Surgery
5. Tummy Tuck

Although breast surgeries continued to be the most popular plastic surgery procedure overall in 2015, the number of those operations performed fell by 2 percent from the previous year, while tummy tucks were 9 percent more popular in 2015 over 2014, and liposuction was 5 percent more popular than the previous year.

That said, non-surgical cosmetic updates were vastly more popular in 2015 than all of the plastic surgery procedures combined. Consider this:

• There were 6.7 million BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments performed in 2015, which is an increase of 1 percent.
• There were 2.4 million injectable filler treatments performed in 2015, which is a 6 percent increase.
• There were 1.3 million chemical peels performed in 2015, which is a 5 percent increase.
