Breast reduction surgery focuses on the removal of excessive breast tissue and skin, with the goal of producing a better contoured and more complimentary appearance to the entire upper body. In the process, breast reduction surgery can relieve the pain that overly heavy breasts may cause to the neck, back, and shoulders. A smaller and more proportional breast size will also reduce strain on bras, eliminating painful indentations and irritation from straps and underwire.
Am I a Good Breast Reduction Candidate?
Breast reduction surgery addresses heavy, overly large, and pendulous breasts. If your breasts are so large as to cause you discomfort, interfere with range of motion, or detract from your appearance, you may be the ideal breast reduction candidate.
In addition to being able to benefit from breast reduction, candidacy considerations will include:
- Your medical history and current health
- Your ability to take time to recover
- Your willingness to follow Dr. Fata’s pre and postoperative instructions
Breast reduction involves the surgical removal of breast tissue and skin. Dr. Fata was one of the first plastic surgeons in Indianapolis to offer the “vertical breast reduction” technique in which the nipple and upper pole of the breasts are left alone. This helps ensure the most natural looking, symmetrical, and attractive results.
Recovery will require a few days off from work and at least two weeks off from heavy activities. Included in the cost of your breast reduction at Renaissance Plastic Surgery are all follow-up visits. During these visits, Dr. Fata will carefully evaluate your progress and help you determine when it is safe to resume all normal activities.
Is Breast Reduction Covered by Insurance?
