At Renaissance Plastic Surgery in Indianapolis, our Board-Certified Indiana Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Joseph Fata, already knew that increasing numbers of young people are interested in plastic surgery because they're devoted to smart phones and social media, and because they see great plastic surgery results via the many social media platforms out there.
Today's young people also are turning to plastic surgery because they want to make themselves as glamorous as possible in those ubiquitous "selfies."
As it turns out, Americans aren't alone these days when it comes to getting cosmetic or plastic surgery because we want to look great in pictures. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that plastic surgery has seen a huge boost in China for the same reason.
Based on research from HSBC, the Chinese are expected to double their annual spending on cosmetic or plastic surgery, from 400 million yuan, or $61 million, in 2014 to an anticipated 800 billion yuan, or $122 billion, in 2019. "China is set to become the (cosmetic and plastic surgery) industry’s third-largest market in the world, behind the U.S. and Brazil," according to The Wall Street Journal.
What procedures do people usually want when their top motivation is to take better selfies?
Three treatments that are all-the-rage among selfie lovers are:
- BOTOX® Cosmetic
- Rhinoplasty
- Facelift
