If you choose to fight the signs of aging through a cosmetic facelift procedure with Dr. Fata, it is important to prepare for your surgery day. Although each procedure is unique to the patient’s individual requirements, age and health, it typically follows precise steps.
Depending on the extent of the facelift procedure you have selected, your time in the surgery center can range from outpatient status to an overnight stay. Pack a small bag of essentials in preparation for the event that you are required to stay. Dr. Fata will provide a pre-operative booklet with a checklist of what to do the day of your facelift during your consultation.
The Facelift Procedure
The first phase of a facelift involves an anesthetic for your comfort. These options are intravenous sedation or a general anesthetic, recommended by your anesthetist depending on the type of facelift procedure you are undergoing..
Once the anesthetic has taken effect, your surgeon will place small incisions, typically beginning in line with the temples and continuing along the hairline. This ensures that post-surgical scarring is undetectable once healed.
To create the desired results, excess skin will be removed and fat may be redistributed. Internal issue is then repositioned and facial and décolletage muscles are lifted and tightened to enhance the youthful effect that will be obtained.
The incisions are then closed with hidden stitches and dressings are applied. The dressing will be removed the next day and replaced with a supportive elastic strap.
