If your eyes give the appearance that you are tired or weary, the reason may be a sagging of your eyebrows. Talk to Indianapolis Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Joseph Fata and find out if you would benefit from a brow lift.

After your consultation with Dr. Fata, you will know if you would benefit the most from a brow lift, cosmetic eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty), or a combination of these two procedures. Schedule your consultation in Indianapolis today by calling 317-575-9152.

Why a Brow Lift?

As you age, gravity and the repetitive use of your eyelid muscles pull your eyebrows down over your eyelids, creating a tired and listless look. If you are a woman, the graceful arch of your eyebrow may have changed to one that is flat and heavy. Deep creases and furrows in your forehead may appear as well. All of these unwanted changes can be improved with a brow lift.

Brow Lift Technique

The traditional technique for a brow lift, known as a coronal brow lift, used a long scalp incision (cut) to lift and pull the forehead and eyebrow. This technique of brow lift was effective but left a long scalp scar and occasionally patients were overdone (the “surprised look”).

Dr. Fata uses a technique known as the endoscopic brow lift. Endoscopic surgery first became popular for abdominal procedures, such as tubal ligation, but it is now used in all parts of the body as a way to minimize scars.

In an endoscopic brow lift, small incisions are placed in the scalp behind the hairline, an endoscope (surgical telescope) is inserted, and the skin of the forehead and eyebrows are lifted into a more youthful position with a natural arch. After the position of the forehead and eyebrows have been reset, they are attached in this position with bioabsorbable (dissolving) devices. Dr. Fata performs endoscopic brow lift surgery as an outpatient procedure at the Carmel Ambulatory Surgery Center in Carmel, Indiana, conveniently located near his Indianapolis, Indiana office.

An endoscopic brow lift can be performed alone or with a facelift or blepharoplasty depending on your age and personal goals.

Brow Lift Recovery

Patients are discharged after an endoscopic brow lift with no dressings. Swelling and bruising are mild and can be minimized with cold packs and head elevation. The only restrictions are no heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for two weeks. Most patients take 5-7 days off from work but it is possible to go back sooner. Stitches are removed in 10-14 days.

Brow Lift Costs

The approximate cost of an endoscopic brow lift is $4,310 and it includes Dr. Fata’s surgeon fee, the anesthesiologist and surgery center fees, and all follow-up care by Dr. Fata. If you are having multiple procedures a discount may be applied.
