Can all of these fillers be injected in the lips?
At this time, only Restylane® and Juvederm® are recommended for injection into the lips to increase volume and fullness. Radiesse® may lead to visible lump and cause inflammatory reactions because they are not as soft. Therefore, Radiesse® is only recommended for the deeper folds around the mouth.
What is better for wrinkles: Injectable Fillers or BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic and injectable fillers each work in different ways. BOTOX® Cosmetic reduces wrinkles by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles, and injectable fillers work by filling out and plumping up facial lines and creases.
- For wrinkles around the eyes, forehead, and vertical lip lines, BOTOX® Cosmetic is normally the first treatment choice.
- For wrinkles and folds around the mouth, chin and cheeks, injectable fillers are used because the underlying causes of these wrinkles are gravity and loss of collagen and elastic fibers.
However, long-standing wrinkles around the eyes and forehead may not be completely removed by BOTOX® Cosmetic alone, and in this situation, Restylane® is used to fill out any residual lines.
